The following is a list of seven magazines that pay writers at least $150 for some of the articles they publish. We’ve done our best to do accurate research. However, keep in mind that you may need to negotiate payment — and that rates do change. Deep South Magazine accepts queries for articles covering the South. They negotiate pay on an individual basis, though one payment report indicates $150 for a 750 word article. To learn more, visit their website here.
Women’s World, the magazine often seen in magazine racks at checkout stands, accept submissions of personal stories, “acts of kindness”, recipes, and more. They pay $250 per personal story, but a mere $25 for acts of kindness or recipes. To learn more, visit their contact us page.
Outside Magazine is a monthly publication that covers “the people, sports and activities, politics, art, literature, and hardware of the outdoors.” According to our research they pay between 25 cents and $1 per word for the writing they publish. To learn more, read their contributors’ guidelines.
Minnesota Parent is a family magazine covering “maternity, childbirth, kid health and development, child care, education, toys and technology.” They have a particular need for feature writers who are comfortable doing interviews and reporting. They want “articles from model builders who feel their models and/or modeling techniques and experiences would be of interest and benefit to others.” They pay $150 per short article.
